Annis Haggar is the Chairman of Haggar Group Companies, Chairman of Board of Trustees, Haggar Foundation. He retired in 2019 as Chairman of the Haggar Holding Company, a family’s investment vehicle working with a range of businesses in Northern and Southern Sudan. The Haggar family has been active in East Africa for over 100 years, in numerous sectors. The group’s portfolio includes FMCG, retail, trading, banking, real estate, insurance, agriculture, oil and gas, telecommunications, and healthcare.

He is a Member of the Executive Committees of Sudanese American Friendship Society, and the Sudanese British Friendship Society. He is also Vice President of Sudanese Businessmen and Employers Federation and the Sudanese Chamber of Industry, in addition to many others. He participated and presented papers at a number of National and International Conferences, in diversified fields, including and not limited to: Peace and Conflict Resolution, International Relations, Trade and Economics, Relief and Humanitarian issues, Corporate Social Responsibility and the UNGC, together with other issues of importance to Sudan and the Region.

Annis was awarded the “Order of the Loyal Son of Sudan” in June 1999 and the “Commander of the Order of Civil Merit” by King Juan Carlos of Spain.  He also received many Honorary Doctorates from several universities including: Ahfad University for Women in April 2004 and from Al Zaeem Al Azhari University in February 2017.
