Mr Tomoya Terao

Tomoya Terao is a Japanese career diplomat at the Embassy of Japan in the UK. Before being despatched to the UK, he devoted several years to establishing Japan’s foreign policy towards the Middle East. His principal role encompassed strengthening security cooperation between Japan and Jordan, preparing high-level meetings such as the Japan-Arab Political Dialogue in 2021, and addressing the Libyan national reconciliation process. He also conducted research into Japan’s strategic engagement with the Middle East at the Politics and Society Institute, a Jordanian think tank in Amman. His current interest lies in the role of Arab media, which has influenced regional society.
