Deadline: Wednesday 12 November 2025

St Antony’s College is recruiting for a Senior Maintenance Technician. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Senior Maintenance Technician ensures that all reactive maintenance tasks are managed according to service standards, and carries out a range of general maintenance, repairs and renewals to College buildings, working to a high standard and using trusted contractors as necessary – supervising and ensuring satisfactory completion of the work required. The post-holder ensures all reported maintenance complaints and failures are responded to efficiently and effectively, and keeps College members up to date on their outstanding maintenance requests.

The Senior Maintenance Technician supervises the routine inspections of buildings and follows a planned preventative maintenance schedule – supervising a Maintenance Technician to ensure that all routine PPM tasks are completed correctly and on time. The post-holder supports the implementation of projects within the planned maintenance programme – ensuring projects are completed on time and to budget, liaising with contractors on statutory testing programs, and carrying out routine inspections of plant, boiler and other equipment rooms.

Good health and safety practice is crucial in this role – the post-holder ensures all work is carried out in strict compliance with all applicable procedures, practices and statutory requirements, ensures that staff/contractors are instructed and informed on all relevant Health and Safety issues, and assists in fire drills and safety & security procedures as required.

To be successful in your application, you will have previous experience in a similar role, including experience of supervising staff and contractors, and a working knowledge of health and safety policies and practices including COSHH, Working at Height and Manual Handling. You will need a good understanding of building regulations and the ability to operate all equipment safely, as well as strong organisational, prioritisation, and IT skills. You will be a good communicator, with a resilient and empathetic nature and the ability to provide excellent customer service. Proven success working in a small team and a cooperative and flexible approach to the role will be essential.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have an awareness of the statutory ACOPs and an ability to work within their remits, as well as training in manual handling and working at height. An interest in investigating and incorporating sustainable options and solutions would be advantageous, as would experience in working in a college/university environment and sympathy with the values, ethos and objectives of a small, collegiate institution.
