Dahrendorf Programme

The Dahrendorf Programme at the European Studies Centre commemorates the College’s third Warden, Ralf Dahrendorf, one of the leading social and political thinkers of his time, and is dedicated to a subject central to his work and life. It has three main components: a Research Agenda which currently focuses on the Europe in a Changing World project, and has previously included the Europe’s Stories project, the Free Speech Debate project; an annual Ralf Dahrendorf Memorial Lecture; and an annual group of competitively selected Dahrendorf Scholars.

The Dahrendorf Programme is co-directed by Professor Timothy Garton Ash and Professor Paul Betts.

The programme is generously funded by Stiftung Mercator, with additional support from the Friedrich Naumann Stiftung für die Freiheit.
